Thanks Giving!

Can you believe it people? Thanksgiving is almost here again! This year has TRULY passed us by. As I think over this year, the thought comes to mind that so many have not lived to see this date and time. We are very privileged to be among the living. We talk a lot about being thankful during this time of year, but how thankful are we really? When we think of Thanksgiving, for most of us we think of family, food, & fun. This year let’s try to focus a little bit more on our thankfulness. As I was thinking of this, I thought of Thanksgiving as Thanks Giving. Why not show our Thanks by Giving to those who Don’t have on this holiday. Offer food or invite them in our homes to share Our family, food, & fun. It could turn out to be the Best holiday ever for us, and them!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Sunshine Bringin The Light!

Whooah Ladies! I was checking out sunshinelovespeace on YT, trying to find a video of how she maintains her fade cut, & I came across this video. She was talkin about wanting to share what God is doing for her in her life, & ridding herself of things in her life that were consuming her like her hair, etc. Here I am debating whether or not I wanna talk about that stuff, and she’s just sayin it. Much respect to you Ms. Sunshine. Like the saying goes, if you don’t stand up for what you believe in, you’re definitely gonna fall for something. Take a listen below.

Thank ya,

Happy Holiday Shopping – On A Budget!!!!

Ladies! It’s almost that time again….time for Holiday Shopping! And if money is funny for you, like it is for a lot of us….come along for the ride anyway. We can at least dream about it together, can’t we!? 🙂

So let’s get started. You know the department stores are competing for customers right? WalMart, Target, & Best Buy are going to be starting their Black Friday sales this year on Thursday night! Whhhhhaaaattt! They’re gonna have to change the name to Black Thursday!

If you’re looking to buy a TV this year, here are the sale predictions from Consumer Reports. Target has 18 pages of discount coupons that you can print out on your own computer here: http://coupons.target.com Take a sneek peak at Walmart’s Black Friday’s sales ad here: http://www.walmart.com/cp/black-friday-2011/1076614 Oh, Walmart has also brought back their Lay-A-Way plan for the holiday season, so check your local store for end dates.

Apparently, these are the three major discount stores goin head to head this year….but personally….I wish I had a Target(Targe’) in my neck of the woods. Correct me if I’m wrong, but they seem to carry all the natural hair care products (Miss Jessie’s etc.) that I would like to try, without having to order online. I also believe that they carry a better quality of merchandise, than…..I’m  not sayin no names.

Anyways Ladies, I would like to include some of our peoples having some discounts or sales for the holidays….especially hair care stuff. If you know of some that you might have seen on FB, YT, etc. leave me a comment & let me know……DON’T SPAM ME LADIES Though….just want to spread the holiday cheer by promotin some of our own. No color exclusion…..just talkin about the Natural Hair Care world. So leave me comments & let me know. Maybe I’ll have an ongoing discount holiday shopping blog postin thingee…..too many words huh. Let me stop. I’m startin to get silly. Thanks for stoppin by ladies. Please share, follow, & leave your comments.

Thanks again,

Veterans Day

The first thing we think of sometimes, when we get a day off is H-O-L-I-D-A-Y!!!! Then we ask, what holiday is it anyway? I admit I’m guilty….give it up if you’re guilty of that. But I just would like to acknowledge all those that have served, are serving, and have given their lives….sometimes even when they are not quite sure exactly what they’re fighting for. I applaud & thank you all!

A Purpose Driven Life

As the hands of time tick away on the clock of my life, I am beginning to ask myself more & more, questions like; “What am I accomplishing?, Who am I helping?, What is my purpose in life?, If I died today, what would I leave behind besides my personal belongings?, What would I be remembered most for?, & do I want to be remembered for that?, & most important, Am I allowing God to live in me, & use me as an instrument to guide others, & myself to be saved?”

Life takes us through twists & turns, & sometimes we lose focus of what we really want to do & be about. My Hubby shared this song with me today, & it allowed me to redirect my mind, & my thoughts as to what I am really all about. In fact, it made it clearer to me as to why I am here…why I have created this blog….even though I know very little about them. I am here to share, to give, to encourage, to inspire, to uplift, to educate, etc., & to learn myself. Like the song that I am sharing with you above describes, I want a purpose driven life. When others can see the qualities of Christ in me….I have reached that goal….of A Purpose Driven Life. Please take a listen. If you like, please rate, share & follow my blog.

Thank you,

Finally Natural & Lovin It!!!!

Ladies….I don’t know about you, but going natural has never really been a lifelong dream of mine. If you’re like me, you probably avoided it at all costs….simply because we grew up believing that straight hair was better. Frequent use of the hot comb, which graduated to the use of perm kits, never allowed me a chance to get to know & love my hair in its natural state. Because I had become use to dealing with the straight processed hair, that new growth just seemed like the devil to deal with, so off I would run for that “touch up”. That is until June of 2010. Even though my hair was really growing at this point & appeared to be healthy, I became tired of this whole process of washing, blowing drying, flat ironing & curling….week after week, year after year. The whole vanity of it all was consuming me, & I wanted it to change. Not to mention the fact that I was telling myself that it may look o.k. now, but what’s it gonna look like ten & twenty years from now, if I keep putting these chemicals in my hair. I decided that I wanted to keep my hair as long as possible, so I wouldn’t be giving myself any more perms. Although, at the time, I wasn’t really sure that I would follow through with this.

As the months passed, & I started to have new growth, I began caring for it as if it was the only hair on my head. I was amazed! In all of my years, I had never become acquainted with my natural hair. It was actually cooperating with me, & doing what I was telling it to do. Now my permed ends were simply in the way. I was able to coordinate the two hair textures fairly well, but I began to feel compelled that I wanted the permed hair out of my life….& then it happened. A little more than 6 months after I had my last perm, I couldn’t take it any more. I called my Hubby & children together, & explained to them about the struggle I was having with my hair, & that I wanted it to stop….by cutting it off. They understood, & before I knew it, my Hubby was giving me “The Big Chop!” It has been the most freeing thing in all of my life, & I don’t a eva wanna go back! On December 22, 2011, it will be my one year Nappiversary! I must say though, that I may be a little different from the average natural hair journeyer. I have decided that I want to keep a TWA, because it truly keeps my hair easy to maintain. Now some of you ladies might have a problem with that, but you must understand that part of my issue with my hair has been my consumption of it. Therefore, the less hair the better for me.

Anyway, as I was growing up, my Mom taught me how to take care of my own hair, so I would like to pass that knowledge  & encouragement to you. You DON’T have to depend on someone else to do your hair for you. It will save you time & MONEY! If you don’t know how to care for your own hair at this point, pay attention & ask questions as someone else does it for you. Check out YouTube videos, or magazines, etc. There’s a lot of knowledge out there to be had. If you’re putting off going natural because you’re afraid of what people might say….scratch the fear Ladies….find yourself a support system….start with your family….if they have your back, it doesn’t matter what anyone else says!! If you are on the fence about going natural, jump off onto the NATURAL SIDE!!….I sort of got worked up there….back to my point. 🙂 Over the past year, I have learned to maintain my own TWA, so I made a video showing you how to do the same. Please take a moment, & check it out below.

I hope my Natural Hair Journey story has been a help to you. If so, please leave a comment below, follow my blog, like, etc…all the stuff you do with blogs….not quite sure of it all. I’m new to this. But please share this with your friends.

Thank ya for your time Ladies! 🙂
